When Christ spoke about what would precede His return to the earth, the first sign He warned about was the appearance of shameless and very daring religious imposters who would come in His name.
Christians in Africa appear not to have taken this warning seriously. As a result, the chain of daily mushrooming ‘prophets’ continues to exploit our ignorance.
They are not strangers though, but our own blood brothers, lining their deep pockets by fleecing us while showering us with promises that God will bless us with material and eternal blessings someday.
Our problems on matters of health seem to be their best bait. They promise healings that never take place and parade fake healing testimonies to sustain us around their dens as they milk us dry. To them, the misery of your own brother should be well exploited.
When our Creator heals any of our diseases or blesses us while we endure their brutality, these uncouth wolves are masters of exploitation.
They get ‘video cuts’ of our miseries and show them over and over again for their publicity, giving no thought to our dignity.
Again, to them, we are not to receive anything divine without them! That would be equivalent to divine insubordination, punishable by ‘heavenly’ law.
And somehow, they have succeeded in getting this sink into our deluded minds. The reason you will always hear us heaping praises on them for every single headache healed after taking enough pain relievers.
1. Prophet Shepherd Bushiri
I am a good student of the Bible. My understanding may not be perfect, the reason I always prefer reading the words of Christ himself. As I read Matthew 24, my attention will always be drawn to His own words that MANY WILL BE DECEIVED.
Why did I have to talk about numbers and deception? If Malawian ‘billionaire prophet’ Shepherd Bushiri is visiting your town, then you should expect a stadium with tens of thousands of his followers.
These people will travel from across the world just to get a chance to see Bushiri in person.
The man is a master in the fishing trade, but unlike the fishermen turned disciples in the Bible who used nets, he uses baits to get his catch.
First, Bushiri is well aware that disease is one of the biggest nightmares in Africa. Bushiri is also well aware that HIV/AIDS has left many people in Africa very desperate and vulnerable. And this is Bushiri’s fishing ground!
The man claims to have cured people living with HIV/AIDS, made the blind see and changed the fortunes of many poor people.
All these have turned out to be a cooking of his own pot, with revelations that the said HIV/AIDS patients were never positive at all.
Bushiri succeeded in getting a few doctors paid to give false HIV positive results, and thereafter claim healing.
In a continent that is ravaged by HIV/AIDS, such reckless claims could undermine efforts to combat this deadly virus. People are now resisting medication expecting a miracle from Bushiri. It’s sad that we have buried many of them.
The man Bushiri, just like many of his partners in crime, has also learnt a few ‘useful’ camera tricks that awe his prisoners.
The man is aware that fear is a very important tool in any religion, whether true or false. To appear dreadful and angelic, he cooked and served a video claiming to walk on air, a video that was met with worldwide ridicule.
In yet another ridiculous but poorly stage-managed episode, the man Bushiri claimed to be capturing spiritual images on his iPad, and quickly tapped an image from the gallery. Of course the crowd went wild. And that’s false prophet Shepherd Bushiri for you.
To Bushiri, the crowds that are consumers of his garbage are real evidence that he is the messenger sent from heaven. “If they believed there is anything wrong, they would certainly not be following me.” says Bushiri in an interview with BBC.
2. Prophet TB Joshua
TB Joshua is one of the very experienced false prophets Africa has hosted for many years, has been around and in the trade since the early 90s.
The founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations and Emmanuel TV predicted that Hillary Clinton would win the US presidential election of November 8, 2016. Mr Joshua told his congregation that Sunday, and posted on his official Facebook page, that he “saw” a woman winning the US elections.
The US election prediction was broadcast on Mr Joshua’s TV channel Emmanuel TV, which an individual uploaded to YouTube. After Donald Trump convincingly won the vote, the ‘prophecy’ was immediately removed from his Facebook page. However, the youtube video and images of his facebook posts still remain. The internet seems to have some good memory.
Of course the Facebook post did not miraculously disappear. The man shamefully deleted the post after it became evident that his prediction had gone North. At the time the US elections approached, TB Joshua was well informed that opinion polls placed Hillary Clinton at a 45.9% advantage, against Trump’s 42.8%
TB Joshua is an expert of obvious predictions, a game of probability that any gambler can play. He is a man who will tell you that France will win the World Cup when they are already facing an obviously weak opponent in the finals.
He will also ‘prophesy’ that one businessman will win the Governorship election in one of the States. The man will tell you that one prominent politician will die this year, and therefore you need to pray.
3. Prophet David Owuor
David Owuor is a medical doctor from Kenya turned ‘prophet’. Owuor is best known for his predictions that are mainly about calamities such as earthquakes, floods and wars. Whenever you get to see news about an earthquake in some part of the world, check with Owuor’s radio station or Youtube Channel. There must always be a ‘prophecy’ the man gave about the calamity.
Owuor, however, is a witty deceiver. He has managed, over time, to put together a team of expert video editors to assist him in fulfilling his fake predictions. These video editors will always do massive editing of Owuor’s predictions in order to match any calamity in town.
For instance, on February 11, 2011, Owuor gave a ‘prophecy’ about the Eiffel tower of Paris, France. Through his Radio Station, Owuor described that he had seen the Eiffel tower moving due to earth movements under it.
The tower thereafter would height, according to Prophet Owuor’s prediction, and scientists and engineers from all over the world would be called to help.
Owuor also spoke about a big discussion of the European Union on who should repair and restoration of the tower. a disagreement in the unions and that the government of France would ultimately finance its repair.
This ‘prophecy’ was published on Owuor’s Youtube channel, but later deleted, and an edited version uploaded! The ‘prophecy’ was edited to match the March 2011 Japan earthquake that affected the Fukushima power plant.
The man who attracts large crowds in Kenya and almost zero elsewhere at one time predicted that the rapture would take place before a pale horse he saw in a dream was released from heaven. This is something he later edited after images of what looked like a green horse started circulating during the demos in Egypt.
Owuor has managed to keep his video editors busy all year round. Pictures of funny reflections and cloudy skies are quickly made into more than 3-hour videos that must be watched in all his churches on Sundays.
The man claims to have anointed the seat of the Messiah in heaven. Apart from him being two prophets in one, Owuor also claims that God the Father honors him because of their close relationship, and always refers to him as ‘His Lord”.
Just like his two brothers, ‘prophet’ Owuor has mastered the art of fake miracles that include fake HIV/AIDS healings. Just a few weeks ago, Owuor’s biggest source of fame died. Mama Rosa, a woman Owuor claimed to have resurrected sometimes last year succumbed to arthritis, a condition Owuor convinced his captives was as a result of rigor mortis (the hardening of the joints as a result of death).
I think it’s time we said enough is enough to these witches. Their number is growing every day, but tonight I warn you about 3 of them. These 3 have slowly graduated to be gods in many countries across Africa, having enslaved millions of people inside their ever-growing cages.
Their appetite for more slaves also appears to be growing proportionate to their hunger for fame and power. But as they rightfully say, Power is amoral.
